Date: Saturday 7 August - 8.30 am - 5.30 pm
Cost: $100.00 per person
Restrictions: None
The tour will travel north from Brisbane, to the
Sunshine Coast and area of historical and current importance for agricultural
production and forestry. Native forest sites in the coastal lowlands and
improved pasture on the weathered basalt soils of the ranges will be inspected.
Coastal development, particularly in the form of canal estates has caused many
challenges (such as acid sulfate soils, declining water quality etc) to both
environmental and engineering sectors. A visit to a large canal estate will
discover how these challenges are being met in the rapidly expanding urban
areas of the Sunshine Coast
