Call for Papers

Question Will there be an extension to the Call for Papers from 31 January 2010?
Answer No - the original close date was 31 October, this was extended to 31 January and will not be extended again.
   
Question          
Are full papers required or can I submit an abstract?
Answer Full papers with a maximum length of 4 pages were required by the submission deadline. Abstracts will not be considered for inclusion in the Congress program.
   
Question Can I just email my paper in?
Answer No, all papers have to be submitted via the on-line (internet based) Paper Submission process. 

 

Registration

Question           How do I register for the Congress?
Answer Please go to the Registration Section of this website.  Delegates can register on-line using a credit card.  Or, delegates can complete the Registration Form and submit it via fax, post or email for processing with either credit card payment details, a cheque or money order in Australian Dollars or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
   
Question Can I register now and pay later?
Answer No, only registrations forms accompanied by full payment will be processed.  Registration fees must be paid when submitting your registration form.
   
Question
My paper has been accepted can I register just for the day I am presenting?
Answer
Authors who have submitted a paper this accepted for either Oral or Poster presentation MUST pay the Full Registration fee for the Congress to be included in the Congress Program.  Authors who have not paid the Full Registration Fee by 30 May 2010 will be removed from the Program.

Special Funding Arrangements

Question  I cannot afford the Congress registration fees and wish to attend the Congress, are there any programs open to assist with Funding?
Answer            
The 19th World Congress of Soil Science will operate a Funded Delegate Program which will provide complimentary Congress registration to successful applicants.  

Applicants for the Funded Delegate Program closed on 20 December 2009.  The successful applicants HAVE been advised.  There are no additional funds available to assist other delegates.
   
Question
Does the Funded Delegate Program provide money for airfares and accommodation?
Answer
No, the Congress "Funded Delegate Program" will only assist with Registration Fees
   
Question
What other options are available for airfares and accommodation funding?
Answer

The International Seminars Support Scheme (ISSS) is an Australian Government aid activity administered by AusAID.  The ISSS funds attendance at international development-oriented seminars in Australia and overseas.

The scheme helps to develop knowledge and technical expertise in developing countries, and builds linkages between the government, academic and community sectors in Australia and our partner developing countries.

Only successful applicants of the Funded Delegate Program will be recommended for additional funding through the ISSS scheme.  It is not possible to apply for funding through the ISSS scheme as an individual the application must come from the Congress.

Accommodation

Question           
Have special Congress accommodation rates been secured at Brisbane hotels?
Answer       
Yes, a great range of accommodation is being held for Congress delegates.  To access these special rates you must book your accommodation through the Congress Secretariat when you Register for the Congress.
   
Question What types of accommodation are available?
Answer
Please refer to the Accommodation page for more information regarding the range of accommodation on offer to Congress delegates.

Weather

Brisbane is located in the subtropics and enjoys a superb climate year round. August in Brisbane: days are typically dry and sunny with approximately 8.5 hours of sunshine a day; and the nights are mild. August temperatures typically reach 22°C (71°F) during the day and fall to approximately 10°C (50°F) at night. If you plan to travel to southern Australia additional warm clothing may be required. Those travelling north will experience a progressively warmer climate where lighter clothing will be required.
