School Soil Science Awards

About the awards

The School Soil Science Awards are being conducted as part of the program for the 19th World Congress of Soil Science.  For the first time since 1968 the Congress will be hosted by the Australian Society of Soil Science Inc and will be held Brisbane from the 1 - 6 August 2010 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The theme of the conference is "Soil solutions for a changing world". Soils provide humans with food and fibre so they are important to the existence of the human race.  In this rapidly changing world, soils, like many other resources, need to be managed sustainably. Soil scientists the world over recognise that soil solutions in our changing world lie with our future generations.  So, in 2010 we invite students to investigate the "dirt" beneath their feet to uncover the world of living, breathing soils.
