WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Introducing a method for developing publication skills

25 min Use your Introduction to justify your study in a compelling way – 5 stages.
30 min Responding to editors and referees: a structured approach.
30 min Practice applying the principles to a draft manuscript.
Margaret suggests you prepare for this workshop in the following way:
1. Select and bring with you a published paper that you thought was very good.
2. Select and bring with you a draft manuscript that you are currently working on.
3. Consider buying her new book co-authored by Margaret Cargill and Patrick O’Connor (2009) Writing Scientific Research Articles: Strategy and Steps. Wiley-Blackwell.
The book generally retails for about AUD 50.00, but it can be found cheaper on Amazon (www.amazon.com) or using the price-comparison tool on Booko (www.booko.com.au).
There will be some notes handed out at the workshop so it would be helpful to know how many copies we should prepare.
Please contact Dr Cameron Grant (Program Chair, 19th World Congress of Soil Science) if you intend to participate in this workshop (there is no charge) and let him know whether or not you plan to obtain a copy of the book in advance.
